The 21st century will be that of a new tourism

The 21st century will be that of a new tourism, more respectful, more responsible, more united. Who can still pretend to ignore the magnitude of the economic, social, environmental and societal issues related to the world of travel? Many public institutions or private organizations have been trying for years to alert, outlaw or meet the challenges alone. Hundreds of theses, university articles, virtuous blogs have already approached the subject from all angles, limiting themselves to citations of sources and listing of hypotheses, without ever transforming these reflections into concrete actions.

We believe that a new model needs to be reinvented, resulting from cooperation between organizations of a complementary nature. It is no longer an option; it has become obvious. This tremendous opportunity will transcend differences, and engage a dynamic of alliances responding to the many strategic, economic and political questions through operational responses. Only common challenges and tasks can manage the inevitable antagonisms between such different analyses, methods, decision-making and modes of execution.

An ethical and courageous entrepreneurial approach must lead the way. To subscribe is to realize that comparisons, observations, criticisms aimed at highlighting the insufficiencies of a project, the shortcomings of a label or the greenwashing of a company have reached their limits. Our world today needs listening and otherness in the face of difference, strong resilience, a capacity for self-analysis to define the bases of operational requirements.

The experiments carried out by each of our partners prove that the responses must adapt to the scale of the issues, stop believing that the solutions will be immediate and that any innovative initiative deserves a period of maturation and international deployment. Our ten years dedicated to collect the needs of stakeholders, analyze their actions, have enabled the operational partners of the Voyage Solidaire Association to understand that it was essential to create the So-Leader Travel Producers Cooperative so that the interests of customers, local producers, destinations and charities are finally working towards a common goal. The consideration of travelers, the commitment of professionals, the support of tourist institutions and the partnership membership of associations have demonstrated, through concrete results, that this cooperation finally meets everyone's expectations.

This is how twenty partners, associate members of our Cooperative allow us to program more than 700 travel offers to 85 destinations and our partnership offers have already won over more than 35 affiliated associations, direct beneficiaries of the donations included in each stay and circuit.

The mobilization capacities are intact, it remains to articulate them correctly so that the missions entrusted are coherent with the profile and the complementarity of the actors involved. Joining a tourism project is not about exploring a country or adding one more line to a Résumé.

Funding levers must multiply and thoroughly review the foundations of associative economic models. Subsidies must make room for responsible investments, factors of societal utility and associative innovation. Societal needs make it necessary to co-invent relevant and above all sustainable solutions to create new drivers of growth and solidarity and maintain confidence in the future.
