The Museum of Tourism continued to grow in 2023
The year 2023 has been a year of growth and progress for the Museum of Tourism, being these the most relevant actions carried out.
1. Promotional actions of the Museum
Europamundo 2023 Tour Operator Convention, Lisbon. An exhibition space was organized to inform about the Museum.
European Travel Commission Convention, Tenerife. The different member states were informed and invited to collaborate with the Museum.
B Travel Fair, Barcelona. Presence at the fair with a promotional stand managed by the students of the Ramón Benaprés Institute of Sitges (Barcelona) and the Lluïsa Cura Institute of Barcelona.
2. Organization of exhibitions
In collaboration with Turespaña, the "Exhibition of historical posters" Destination Spain. A walk through the history of the history of tourism promotion in Spain" in the following places.
January, Madrid - Barajas Airport. In collaboration with AENA
May - August. Mérida, Plasencia, Cáceres and Badajoz. In collaboration with the University of Extremadura.
September. Astorga. In collaboration with the City Council of Astorga.
3. Opening of "rooms" of the Museum
The Museum of Tourism does not have a single site, but is located wherever "thematic exhibition spaces" are organized, ranging from a showcase to an entire museum. These are the "rooms" that have opened this year.
Room 30. V Social Foundation, Berlin. Dedicated to the history of social tourism.
Room 61. Hotel Abba. Huesca, Spain. Dedicated to the history of the travel albums of a century ago. Funds owned by Ernesto Céspedes.
Room 69. PREDIF. Madrid, Spain. Dedicated to the history of tourism for people with disabilities and PREDIF itself.
Room 71. Interpretation Center Tranvía de la Sierra. Pinos Genil, Granada. Pinos Genil, Granada. Spain. Dedicated to the history of the Granada - Sierra Nevada tramway and the figure of the Duke of Galatino.
Room 77. Museum of the Students. University of Bologna, Italy. Dedicated to the history of the trips of the university students.
Room 78. Automotive Museum of Salamanca, Spain. The whole museum is a room of the Museum of Tourism.
Room 81. Touriseum. Merano, Italy. The entire South Tyrolean Museum of Tourism is a room of the Museum of Tourism.
Room 83. Tourism Office of Gramado, Brazil. Dedicated to the history of tourism in Gramado.
Room 84. Hotel Saturnia International, Venice, Italy. Dedicated to the history of this hotel.
Room 89. University of Pharos, Alexandria. Egypt. Dedicated to the history of tourism in Egypt.
Room 90. Hotel Cetrine, Eforie, Romania. Dedicated to the history of tourism in Romania.
Room 91. Tourist Office of Almonte, Huelva, Spain. Dedicated to the history of tourism in the locality.
Room 92. House of Culture. City Hall of Lebrija, Seville, Spain. Dedicated to the history of tourism in Lebrija.
Room 96. Rodera-Robles Museum, Segovia, Spain. Dedicated to the history of tourism in Segovia.
Room 98. Headquarters of "Fomento del Turisme de Mallorca", Palma, Mallorca, Spain. Dedicated to the history of this institution.
Room 101. Tourism Office of Aguilas, Murcia, Spain. Dedicated to the history of tourism in the town and the office itself.
Room 102. Centro de Enseñanza Gregorio Fernández. Valladolid, Spain. Dedicated to the history of tourism and the pioneers of the sector.
Room 103. Café Dindurra, Gijón, Spain. Dedicated to the history of the Café itself.
Aragoneses Turismo Travel Agency, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Dedicated to the figure of Mario Aragoneses. Room 106. Headquarters of the European Travel Commission, Brussels, Belgium. Dedicated to the history of the institution itself.
Room 107. Secretariat of Tourism of La Pampa, Santa Rosa, Argentina. Dedicated to the history of tourism in the region of La Pampa.
Room 108. Adventures adventures. Barruelo de Santullán. Dedicated to the history of the family that owns the company and its relationship with tourism.
Room SKAL Sevilla. SKAL's stand at the April Fair in Seville (only on display during the April Fair). In collaboration with the Association SKAL of Seville, dedicated to the history of the promotional posters of the Fair and of Seville.
4. Other activities
Two free guided tours of the Santa Cruz district of Seville were conducted to show the work of the Marqués de la Vega-Inclán, considered the pioneer of tourism in Spain. The first, for the Asociación de Vecinos Amigos del Barrio de Santa Cruz, and the second, for the II Promoción de Ingenieros Industriales de Sevilla.
5. On-line informative work
Dissemination and dissemination work continued through the website www.elmuseodelturismo.org and the different social networks in the 17 languages in which they are operational. In December, a facebook page was opened in Hungarian.
The Museum of Tourism has continued to grow thanks to the work and enthusiasm of more than 400 collaborators around the world and invites anyone who wants to support the work of recovering and disseminating the history of the tourism sector to participate in any way in this initiative that continues to cross borders. The borders that tourism does not know.
