The Lebaniego Way participates in the Spiritual Tourism Forum ‘Travelling beyond Faith

Caravaca de la Cruz has hosted the national tourism forum ‘Turium’, with a special edition dedicated to spiritual tourism. The director of the Foundation presented the Cantabrian Way as an example of how historical, artistic and natural heritage promotes spiritual tourism.

The Fundación Camino Lebaniego has participated this morning in the Spiritual Tourism Forum ‘Travelling beyond Faith’, in the Church - Convent of San José Caravaca de la Cruz, Murcia. This event, organised by Vocento's tourism division, Turium, brought together spiritual tourism experts from around the world to explore the impact and opportunities offered by this growing sector.

The Camino de Santiago and the Camino de la Cruz will also be represented at the Forum, which has counted with the intervention of the priest and essayist and meditation expert Pablo d'Ors.

Pilar Bahamonde, director of the Fundación Camino Lebaniego, spoke with a reflection on the importance of the Cantabrian Way in contemporary religious and spiritual tourism.

The director presented the commitment of the Cantabrian Way, a World Heritage Site, to the cohesion of the territory, ‘seeking a formula that provides balance in management; that does not impact on the local way of life and protects its inhabitants’. A formula which, he stressed, ‘thus offers the pilgrim authenticity, spirituality and welcome so that really touring it is a transformative experience’.

Bahamonde has also addressed the religious architectural heritage understood as the largest museum in Europe and the pilgrimage as the thread that connects these pieces cohesive territory.

The forum included several interactive sessions, panel discussions and networking opportunities with the aim of fostering collaboration in future spiritual tourism projects.
