Amazon 2026: II International Meeting of Tourism Journalists
“Traditionally, communication served to sell a postcard. Today, we understand it as the essential tool—just as necessary as water or energy—that enables territories to take ownership of their own progress.”
The Journalism with Purpose Foundation has consolidated a model in which technical and ethical storytelling serves as the necessary bridge between the planet’s most valuable biological assets and high-value markets. Following the measurable impact achieved in Colombia’s Coffee Region, the initiative now extends toward the 2nd International Meeting of Tourism Journalists – Amazon 2026, to be held from October 18 to 22, representing an institutional commitment to narrative sovereignty and the digital integration of the world’s most important biome.
With the strategic validation of the Tourism and Society Think Tank (TSTT), this project is presented as a management doctrine in which Colombia leads the global conversation on the future of tourism: one where technology enhances ancestral heritage and environmental preservation translates into economic prosperity.
I. The Return of Legitimacy: Lessons from Past Success
The Foundation’s trajectory allows the present to be grounded in proven results. The First International Meeting demonstrated that return on investment for participating brands goes beyond conventional advertising metrics. In that context, strategic partners obtained a scarce asset in today’s market: territorial reputational authority.
Success was reflected in the ability to integrate brands into a narrative of conservation and respect for the Coffee Cultural Landscape, generating a direct association with sustainability and corporate ethics. This mutual-benefit model forms the foundation now being scaled to the Amazon, supported by institutional traceability that underpins the growth of emerging destinations.
The objective for 2026 is to replicate this reputational gain on a planetary stage, where brand commitment becomes a distinctive competitive advantage.
To explore these milestones further, the Foundation provides its management portfolio on its website and a detailed record of its leadership on LinkedIn under the name José Fernando Ballesteros—tools that validate the strength of this international initiative.
II. Present: The Conquest of Digital Sovereignty in the Amazon
The current horizon in the Amazon is defined by the opportunity to strengthen the territory through innovation. While the region holds 10% of global biodiversity, its digital connection to global markets represents fertile ground for growth. The Foundation has identified that strengthening local narrative capacity is key to transforming biological wealth into tangible well-being for its inhabitants.
To address this challenge, a high-level ecosystem of partners has been consolidated. LATAM Airlines leads the strategic connectivity dimension, enabling journalistic intelligence from 16 countries to converge in the territory and co-create value. Meanwhile, On Vacation, operating under the BIC (Benefit and Collective Interest) model, ensures that hotel logistics serve as a practical example of environmental responsibility.
Under the narrative of “Colombia, the country of beauty,” the Amazon positions itself as the great host of regenerative tourism, where biodiversity is communicated under global standards of excellence.
III. Future: Knowledge Transfer and Lasting Legacy
Amazon 2026 is designed to leave a technical footprint that transcends the duration of the event. The goal is knowledge transfer to local communities, equipping more than 200 tourism value-chain stakeholders and 15 communities with the digital tools necessary for local inhabitants to become owners of their own narrative and international projection.
This empowerment process ensures that tourism becomes a driver of autonomous, dignified development aligned with modern traveler trends.
The Foundation will deliver three strategic assets to the global tourism sector:
International Observatory of Tourism Journalism: An analytical tool to monitor destination brand perception and health in real time.
Amazon White Paper: A compendium of best practices in communicating biodiverse territories, serving as a guide for global destinations.
Responsible Communication Certification: An ethical standard for journalists and brands seeking to elevate their commitment to the environment and native cultures.
IV. A Call to Action for Visionary Brands
The II International Meeting of Tourism Journalists is a platform for organizations that understand that the future of business lies in shared responsibility. Joining this initiative means participating in the construction of a model where professional communication protects life while generating wealth.
At Amazon 2026, brands will find the most authentic setting to demonstrate that their commitment to the planet is both tangible and prosperous.
The path toward October 2026 is already defined. At the Journalism with Purpose Foundation, work continues with the certainty that professional and ethical communication is the ultimate engine for preserving and sharing the magic of the Amazon with the entire world.
“By integrating technology, storytelling, and ancestral respect, this meeting redefines return on investment for visionary brands, transforming it into an asset of global legitimacy. Joining this path means committing to a model where corporate success and planetary health go hand in hand, consolidating Colombia as the global benchmark for purpose-driven tourism.”
