Top three destinations for couples in 2025

Whether you're planning a romantic escape, a unique wedding, or a dreamy honeymoon, finding the perfect destination is key to making the most of your time away as a couple. If you’re in need of some inspiration, these three destinations promise breathtaking views and unforgettable moments.

From the paradisical escape of the Maldives to the soaring snow-tipped mountains of Norway, here are the top choices for couples in 2025.

1. Maldives

The Maldives continues to top the list for couples seeking ultimate luxury and privacy. With its iconic overwater bungalows, crystal-clear waters, and sun-drenched beaches, it's the perfect spot for a romantic escape far away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

There are multiple resorts on the archipelago, many of which boast private overwater villas so you can enjoy uninterrupted ocean views from the comfort of your villa – complete with private plunge pools and direct access to the sea.

The 1,192 islands of the Maldives are teeming with unparalleled marine life, and offer optimal visibility for snorkelling or scuba-diving adventures. Rare sights such as sea turtles, sharks, manta rays and dolphins are just a few of the incredible creatures you’re likely to encounter as you enjoy the tepid waters of the Indian Ocean.

As the sun sets, you can either experience an iconic dolphin cruise or relax and indulge in a delicious dinner before being pampered with couples’ massages and treatments. If all of the above sounds like just what you and your beloved need, the best weather here is often considered to be between November and April.

2. Santorini

If you need a little more than beaches to truly enjoy your vacation, Santorini in Greece is the perfect destination. Set in the Aegean Sea, this stunning Cyclades island is known for its white-washed buildings and stunning sunsets – as well as its rich history. The island’s unique geography was created around 1600 BCE, when the biggest volcanic eruption in recorded history caused part of Strogili (the island Santorini was originally part of) to collapse into the sea.

There are also plenty of wineries and local flavors to explore as you wander through the rustic streets and markets, with tastings available across Santorini’s many luxurious eateries and vineyards. Try the local Assyrtiko wines, paired with authentic Greek dishes such as fava beans or moussaka, for an authentic experience that feels tailor-made for lovers.

As night falls, there are many interesting accommodations that blend charm with modern comfort. From cozy cave suites to spa hotels to private villas perched on the edge of the caldera, there’s something to suit any couple. Be sure to book a private catamaran tour for unbeatable views of the waters and volcanic islands – the perfect time for a proposal?

3. Norway

For couples seeking a unique vacation with a lower carbon footprint, Norway is hard to beat. With its majestic fjords, Northern Lights, and proud emphasis on sustainable travel, it’s a dream location for any nature-loving romantics.

From eco-friendly lodges to repurposed barn venues, Norway’s options are both chic and ethical. It’s easy to see why so many are drawn to the vast expanses of glistening fjords, cascading waterfalls and verdant cliffs – the landscape truly emits a sense of serenity and timeless romance.

Between September and March, you’ll be in for a chance to see the auroras dance across the sky, perfect for a honeymoon or sustainable wedding. While the allure of an outdoor wedding is plain to see, there are also plenty of indoor spaces to host your nuptials, from rustic farms to ancient fortresses.

There’s also more to Norway than scenic vistas. For the chance to learn about this country’s famed past, be sure to spend some time musing at the artefacts and historical collections in the Tromsø University Museum and The Viking Ship Museum in Oslo.

Start planning your next romantic adventure

Whether you’re basking in the turquoise waters of the Maldives, sipping wine in Santorini, or saying "I do" under Norway’s aurora borealis, these destinations promise memories that last a lifetime. Each offers a tranquil location to spend quality time with your partner and explore some of the most desired destinations on the planet, but which is right for you?
