Madrid strengthens international tourism growth in first quarter

24-05-2026

The city of Madrid continues to reinforce its position as one of Europe’s most attractive urban destinations for international tourism. During the first quarter of the year, spending by foreign visitors reached 4.143 billion euros, representing a 7.1% increase compared to the same period last year. These figures reflect not only the growing interest in the Spanish capital, but also the consolidation of a tourism model focused on higher spending capacity and premium experiences.

The growth recorded during the first months of the year confirms Madrid’s strength as a leading cultural, gastronomic, and commercial destination. The city has successfully attracted travelers from a wide range of international markets who find in the capital a combination of historical heritage, entertainment, luxury, air connectivity, and high-quality services. All these factors have contributed to maintaining an upward trend in tourism spending and strengthening the sector’s role within Madrid’s economy.
