The proposal promoted by Senatur aims to transform the tourism experience through concrete actions designed to improve infrastructure, customer service and the range of services available in both public and private spaces. Among the main challenges discussed during the event were the adaptation of urban environments, ongoing training for tourism sector workers and the incorporation of universal accessibility standards into the design of tourism products.
Authorities and specialists agreed that accessible tourism should not be understood solely as the physical adaptation of spaces, but rather as a comprehensive vision that encourages the active participation of all individuals. In this regard, participants emphasized the importance of raising awareness about the social and economic value of inclusion, as well as strengthening coordinated efforts between public institutions, private companies and civil society organizations.
They also highlighted that the development of more inclusive tourism represents an opportunity to broaden Asunción’s tourism offerings and position the city as a destination prepared to receive both domestic and international visitors with varying accessibility requirements. This perspective also contributes to strengthening a sustainable and responsible tourism model aligned with international trends that prioritize equity and respect for human rights.
During the event, participants analyzed experiences and best practices implemented in other tourist destinations, along with tools that can be introduced to improve communication and assistance for people with disabilities. Attendees stressed that accessibility must be present throughout the entire tourism chain, from pre-trip information to transportation, accommodation and recreational activities.
Another key topic discussed was the need to promote a culture of inclusive hospitality that allows every visitor to feel comfortable, safe and valued. To achieve this, participants underscored the importance of encouraging awareness and training programs aimed at tourism service providers, public officials and members of the community.
Senatur reaffirmed its intention to continue promoting spaces for dialogue and training that contribute to strengthening inclusive policies within the tourism sector. The institution considers that advancing toward accessible tourism not only improves the quality of life for people with disabilities, but also benefits older adults, families with young children and travelers with specific accessibility needs.
The commitment to accessibility forms part of a broader strategy aimed at positioning Paraguay as a modern, competitive and welcoming tourism destination open to everyone. Within this context, Asunción is emerging as a city committed to integration and innovation, promoting initiatives that help create more human-centered and equitable tourism experiences.
Through initiatives such as these, Paraguay’s tourism sector continues taking important steps toward greater inclusion, promoting values of respect, equality and social participation. Collaboration between institutions and stakeholders from different sectors is generating meaningful progress that strengthens the country’s image and contributes to the development of tourism designed for all people.
