Concerts boost urban tourism demand across Spain

31-03-2026

The 2026 music calendar is having a direct and significant impact on urban tourism in Spain. Concerts by major international artists such as Shakira, Laura Pausini, and Rosalía have triggered a surge in travel interest toward cities like Madrid and Barcelona, reinforcing the role of live music as a powerful tourism driver.

According to data from travel platform eDreams, searches for trips to these cities have increased up to fivefold following the announcement of these events. This trend highlights a broader shift in the industry: major concerts are no longer just local attractions but generate substantial international travel flows.

Shakira’s case is particularly notable. Her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour” has generated strong demand across European markets. Following ticket sales announcements for her Madrid shows, travel searches from France rose by 486%, Germany by 463%, and Spain by 345%. The Netherlands and the United Kingdom also recorded significant increases.
