Colombian tourism drives economy and strengthens global leadership

In 2025, the sector consolidated its position as the country’s second-largest generator of foreign currency, surpassing traditional export sectors such as coffee and coal. This development reflects a gradual transformation in the national economic structure and highlights the growing importance of the travel industry in Colombia’s economic development.

The results achieved demonstrate the dynamism of tourism in Colombia in recent years. According to sector data, revenues generated by international travel and passenger air transport reached 11.166 billion dollars in 2025. This historic figure represents growth of approximately 9.3 percent compared with the previous year. The performance confirms a sustained expansion trend that has allowed tourism to establish itself as one of the country’s key sources of foreign income.
