Colombia promotes inclusive tourism through innovative national program

09-03-2026

Colombia has taken a decisive step toward building a more inclusive and accessible tourism sector with the launch of a pioneering program designed to transform destinations across the country into barrier-free environments. The initiative, led by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, represents a strategic effort to ensure that all people—regardless of their physical, sensory or cognitive conditions—can fully enjoy the country’s rich natural and cultural heritage.

At the core of this effort is the creation of the first Diploma Program in Universal Design Management for Tourism, an educational initiative aimed at training tourism stakeholders in the development of accessible environments and inclusive travel experiences. The program is supported by the National Tourism Fund and implemented in partnership with the Misioneros de la Divina Redención Foundation, organizations committed to strengthening the competitiveness of Colombia’s tourism industry while promoting a more equitable model of development within the sector.
