01-06-2026

The World Religious Tourism Network has launched a new section entitled “Recommended Destinations,” a platform designed to showcase places that stand out for their spiritual, cultural, historical, and tourism value. The Mexican city of Fresnillo, located in the state of Zacatecas, has been selected to inaugurate this international initiative thanks to its unique combination of heritage, tradition, and deep religious identity, making it a benchmark destination for travelers and pilgrims alike.

Situated in the heart of Zacatecas, Fresnillo is one of the most emblematic destinations in northern Mexico. Its history is closely linked to mining activities, which for centuries drove the region’s economic and social development. Beyond this productive legacy, however, the municipality has successfully preserved a distinctive character shaped by its traditions, hospitality, and vibrant cultural life, attracting visitors throughout the year.
