Paris reinforces its leadership among the world's premier tourist cities

17-07-2026

Paris has once again secured its place at the forefront of global tourism by reaffirming its status as one of the world's most attractive urban destinations. Ranked second worldwide and the highest-performing European city in the 2026 Global City Tourism Attractiveness Index, the French capital continues to captivate international travellers through its unique blend of culture, heritage, lifestyle, and innovation. The latest results highlight Europe's enduring strength as a leading tourism region and demonstrate that cities with a distinctive identity continue to hold a special appeal for visitors from around the globe.

The index, developed by Yanolja Research in collaboration with Purdue University's CHRIBA Institute and Kyung Hee University's Center for Tourism and Hospitality Research, introduces a more comprehensive approach to evaluating tourism competitiveness. Rather than relying solely on traditional indicators such as visitor arrivals, accommodation capacity, or airport traffic, the study measures travellers' perceptions by analysing millions of online conversations and social media posts in fourteen different languages.
