The Tourism Think Tank is pleased to announce the participation of Michele Zavoli, CEO and founder of Travelware SRL SB, as a guest speaker in a special session dedicated to the future of regenerative tourism and effective coordination among multiple stakeholders. Michele Zavoli leads Travelware, an Italian company recognised as an Innovative Startup & Benefit Corporation, positioned at the forefront of applying Web3, artificial intelligence, and decentralised governance models to the tourism sector. Through his work in Africa and Europe, Michele has witnessed first-hand how siloed approaches undermine destinations’ ability to grow sustainably and equitably. The absence of collaborative infrastructure often prevents communities, public institutions, and private-sector actors from aligning their efforts. Travelware emerged precisely in response to this challenge, leveraging the potential of artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, and decentralised governance to create systems that empower communities to coordinate, innovate, and regenerate their own tourism ecosystems. Zavoli emphasises that a destination’s collective intelligence—when connected through digital infrastructures—has the capacity to transform territorial governance and generate long-term regenerative impact.

His keynote, entitled “Regenerative Destination Development: From Community Empowerment to Decentralized Governance”, will examine how destinations worldwide are moving beyond traditional sustainability towards active regeneration. At a time when 66% of travellers globally say they want to leave destinations better than they found them, regenerative principles are increasingly becoming a new benchmark for competitiveness, resilience, and social responsibility.

During the session, Zavoli will address how overcoming multi-stakeholder coordination bottlenecks can accelerate spatial planning, enable the co-creation of high-impact projects, and strengthen community-led decision-making processes. He will also present practical tools and models that enhance transparency, traceability, and real-time collaboration among the different destination stakeholders.

This perspective positions regeneration as a comprehensive approach that integrates environmental protection, local economic development, social cohesion, and transparent governance.
