TSTT stands in solidarity with the people of Colombia – Colombia is not alone

On behalf of the Tourism and Society Think Tank (TSTT), we wish to express our deepest solidarity with and heartfelt support for the people of Colombia in the wake of the devastating earthquake that has affected several regions of the country, with a particularly severe impact on cities and communities in western Colombia.

At this difficult time, our thoughts are first and foremost with those who have lost loved ones, those who have been injured, the families whose homes and livelihoods have been affected, and all the communities facing the consequences of this emergency.

At the Tourism and Society Think Tank, we wish to convey not only a message of solidarity, but also a sincere offer of support and collaboration.

The Tourism and Society Think Tank, together with the organizations, experts, professionals, and institutions involved in our various working groups —including research, strategic planning, and other areas— and our international networks —among them the World Religious Tourism Network, the World Network of Cocoa and Derivatives Tourism Destinations, and our initiatives in Accessible Tourism— as well as the other programs we develop internationally, stands ready to support Colombian citizens, professionals, businesses, destinations, and institutions.

We place our experience, expertise, and international cooperation capabilities at Colombia’s service, with a firm commitment to contributing wherever we can be of assistance to the recovery and revitalization of the country’s tourism sector.

Once the immediate priority of caring for those affected and addressing the most urgent needs arising from this emergency has been met, the time will come to support the destinations, professionals, businesses, and communities whose livelihoods depend on tourism, helping to restore activity, safeguard employment, and rebuild confidence. From this moment forward, and throughout that process, Colombia can count on us.

We have every confidence in the resilience of a remarkable country, distinguished by the richness of its culture, heritage, natural beauty, and traditions, but above all by the hospitality, strength, and solidarity of its people.

From the Tourism and Society Think Tank, we extend our heartfelt support to the entire Colombian people and reaffirm our readiness to stand alongside its institutions and tourism sector, collaborating wherever our experience, networks, and international reach can make a meaningful contribution.
