A series of intensive initiatives to promote religious tourism is helping prepare Peru’s tourism sector for the return of Pope Leo XIV to the country.

Executives from the World Religious Tourism Network (WRTN), a program of the Tourism and Society Think Tank (TSTT), carried out an extensive working agenda in Peru aimed at strengthening the tourism sector and preparing it to capitalize on the opportunities surrounding Pope Leo XIV’s return.

Organized by CANATUR, Peru’s National Chamber of Tourism, the First Specialized Conference on Religious Tourism brought together national and international experts to foster the development of new tourism experiences, promote faith-based destinations, and encourage the use of digital tools to strengthen this important segment of the tourism industry.
