Hong Kong strengthens its international tourism leadership in 2026

26-08-2026

Hong Kong continues to consolidate its position as one of the world’s leading international tourism destinations after welcoming 31.22 million visitors during the first seven months of 2026. This figure represents a 12% increase and confirms the strong momentum of a sector that is once again playing an essential role in the city’s economy, supported by extensive air connectivity, new infrastructure and a vibrant programme of international events.

This growth is enabling Hong Kong to strengthen its position among the urban destinations with the greatest capacity to attract travellers from a wide range of international markets. Its combination of cultural attractions, gastronomy, shopping, entertainment, luxury accommodation and convenient connections with other Asian destinations remains one of its main competitive advantages. This is complemented by a strategy focused on enhancing the visitor experience and making travel easier from the moment tourists arrive.
