Central Asia drives historic growth in sustainable regional tourism

06-08-2026

Central Asia emerged in 2025 as the world’s fastest-growing tourism region, confirming a remarkable transformation that has positioned it among the most promising emerging markets in the global travel industry. The strong momentum recorded over the past year reflects a combination of infrastructure investment, improved connectivity, policies designed to facilitate international travel, and increasingly effective promotion of the region’s rich historical, cultural, and natural attractions.

Estimates indicate that the travel and tourism sector contributed approximately $20.1 billion to the region’s economy in 2025, representing a 17.7% increase compared with the previous year. This performance makes Central Asia the fastest-expanding tourism region worldwide, significantly outpacing growth in other parts of the world and reinforcing tourism’s role as an increasingly important driver of economic activity, employment, and investment.
