The working meetings provided an opportunity to exchange proposals and assess the main challenges and opportunities facing the tourism industry, as well as to establish areas for coordination aimed at enhancing Peru’s competitiveness as a tourism destination and creating greater opportunities for businesses and destinations across the country’s different regions.
As part of the coordination agendas with MINCETUR and PROMPERÚ, discussions focused on priority areas for strengthening the conditions necessary for tourism development, including tourism safety and security, destination management, connectivity, airport infrastructure, and the modernization of Machu Picchu ticketing processes. These issues form part of a broader agenda aimed at improving travel conditions and the visitor experience for both domestic and international travelers, while further enhancing Peru’s competitiveness as a destination.
As part of the agreements reached, the parties proposed continuing to strengthen coordination mechanisms through technical working groups and a crisis committee, which will enable them to monitor priority issues affecting the sector, assess potential solutions, and promote joint action.
With regard to international promotion, the parties agreed to continue strengthening their joint efforts throughout 2026 and 2027, with particular emphasis on Peru’s participation in major international forums and trade promotion activities, including FITUR 2027 and ANATO 2027.
The commitment to hold the 35th edition of Peru Travel Mart 2027 was also confirmed. As the country’s leading tourism promotion and trade event, Peru Travel Mart connects Peru’s tourism offerings with international buyers and generates new business opportunities for the industry.
The meetings also addressed the upcoming visit of Pope Leo XIV to Peru, identifying opportunities to showcase the country internationally as a destination for faith, culture, and hospitality, while highlighting its rich religious, historical, and cultural heritage.
At CANATUR, we reaffirm our commitment to continuing to bring the needs and proposals of the private tourism sector to the relevant authorities, while fostering dialogue and collaboration to advance a shared agenda for the growth, competitiveness, and sustainability of Peru’s tourism industry.
