Between April and June, the number of accommodation room nights booked through the group’s platforms increased by 5% year on year. In absolute terms, the company recorded approximately 325 million room nights during the quarter, compared with around 309 million in the same period of 2025. This performance demonstrates the company’s ability to sustain growth in its core business despite an already high comparison base.
The economic value generated by transactions conducted through its platforms also increased significantly. Gross bookings reached approximately $51 billion, equivalent to around €44 billion. This represents growth of close to 9% compared with the second quarter of the previous year, when the figure stood at $46.7 billion.
Gross bookings are one of the key indicators used to assess Booking Holdings’ business performance, as they reflect the total value of travel services booked by customers, generally including taxes and certain fees and subsequently adjusted for cancellations. Growth in this metric provides insight not only into the volume of transactions but also into the overall financial value of the business generated across the group’s platforms.
The increase in activity was also reflected in revenue. Booking Holdings generated approximately $7.4 billion, around €6.4 billion, in revenue during the second quarter of 2026. This represents year-on-year growth of slightly more than 8% and continues the positive trend seen across the company’s main operating indicators.
Another significant figure for the period was earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation. EBITDA stood at approximately $2.6 billion, representing an increase of more than 9% compared with the second quarter of the previous financial year. This metric provides an indication of the company’s underlying operating performance before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation are taken into account.
The results are particularly noteworthy when compared with those reported a year earlier. During the second quarter of 2025, Booking Holdings had recorded 309 million room nights, gross bookings of $46.7 billion and revenue of $6.8 billion. In that period, net income under US generally accepted accounting principles had amounted to $895 million.
The performance recorded in 2026 therefore highlights a particularly strong improvement in profitability, significantly outpacing the growth reported in both revenue and bookings. While business activity continues to expand at a more moderate pace, net income has more than doubled compared with the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
Booking Holdings therefore enters the second half of 2026 with a strengthened position in the global digital travel distribution market. Higher booking volumes, increased revenue and, above all, the sharp rise in net income underline the group’s ability to translate continued travel demand and growing business activity into substantially stronger financial results.
