Book presentation: Situation and outlook of tourism in Latin America – 2025

27-09-25

Ahead of the celebration of World Tourism Day, commemorated every September 27, the Tourism and Society Think Tank (TSTT) presented the book Situation and Outlook of Tourism in Latin America – 2025 through a simultaneous webinar held across several Latin American countries. Conceived as a strategic contribution to the sector, this publication provides an in-depth analysis of the challenges, opportunities, and trends shaping the present and future of tourism in the region.

The book, edited and published by TSTT on September 27, 2025, stands as a reference tool for governments, businesses, academics, community leaders, and tourism professionals seeking a comprehensive and up-to-date vision. Under the leadership of Antonio Santos del Valle, President of TSTT, and coordinated by Ninoska Gutiérrez, a team of nearly thirty specialists from various Ibero-American countries made this work possible. Among the main contributors are Adriana Lorena Caicedo D., Jeniffer Patricia Loaiza Arrieta, Leidy Joanna García Forero, and Leonor Maldonado Pinzón, all of them recognized for their expertise in tourism, sustainability, innovation, and community development.

The book’s content provides a detailed overview of tourism’s role as an economic, social, and cultural driver in Latin America, highlighting its contribution to job creation, heritage preservation, and social cohesion. It also examines the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, which between 2020 and 2025 profoundly transformed the sector, compelling it to accelerate digitalization, diversify markets, and strengthen domestic tourism. In this regard, the text underscores how community resilience, technological innovation, and a growing awareness of sustainability have become cornerstones of recovery.
