TSTT mourns the passing of Ricardo Acosta, president of APAVIT (Peru)
07-10-25
TSTT maintained with Mr. Ricardo Acosta a professional relationship marked by respect, frank collaboration, and alignment on fundamental principles: integrity, transparency, public–private coordination, training, and international openness. In numerous dialogues and meetings, Antonio Santos del Valle was able to confirm his ability to listen, build consensus, and guide decisions toward the sector’s general interest, above contingencies and borders.
We wish to highlight a recent gesture that honors his commitment to strategic thinking: Mr. Ricardo Acosta contacted the TSTT team to accept his participation in the edition “State and Outlook of Tourism in Latin America – 2025.” His contribution, planned for that publication, would bring the perspective of a leader with experience, closeness to the business community, and sensitivity to the challenges of transforming tourism. TSTT will honor that commitment by preserving his ideas and giving them the dissemination his legacy deserves.
Those of us who had the good fortune to work with him highlight his generosity, his respect for well-executed work, and his calm when facing complex problems. His direct, dialogic style—far from any stridency—made it possible for solutions to arise from consensus and evidence. This human dimension adds to his institutional merits and explains the imprint he leaves among entrepreneurs, executives, academics, and public servants.
