The convention, scheduled for 2025, is expected to bring together more than fifteen thousand attendees from across Mexico and abroad, becoming a spiritually and touristicly significant event. The scale of the gathering will have a direct and positive impact on the local economy, boosting sectors such as hospitality, restaurants, commerce, and services. Additionally, it will serve as a national and international showcase for the cultural, spiritual, and heritage richness that defines San Luis Potosí.
During the press conference, Mayor Enrique Galindo Ceballos emphasized the importance of this event as a recognition of the city’s commitment to religious tourism—a sector that has gained special relevance in recent years for its ability to unite culture, faith, and sustainable development.
“San Luis Capital is history, culture, and faith. This convention is not only a major spiritual gathering but also an invaluable opportunity for thousands of people to experience the soul of our city and the hospitality of our people,” stated Galindo Ceballos.
Also present was Claudia Lorena Peralta Antiga, Director of Municipal Tourism, who highlighted the strong collaboration between the local government, religious institutions, and international organizations dedicated to promoting faith-based tourism.
The municipal government called on the public to take part as welcoming hosts of the event, showcasing the warmth and hospitality that characterize San Luis. It was also announced that an interinstitutional organizing committee will be created to coordinate all logistical, security, and promotional aspects of the National Convention.
The selection of San Luis Potosí as the host city is not only due to its infrastructure and hosting capacity but also to its ongoing efforts to position itself as a city open to all expressions of faith. This recognition aligns with global strategies that frame religious tourism as a powerful tool for intercultural understanding, urban regeneration, and the strengthening of social cohesion.
It is worth noting that during Holy Week, the city welcomed Pilar Valdés, General Director of the World Religious Tourism Network, who met with municipal authorities and religious leaders to witness firsthand San Luis Potosí’s commitment to religious tourism and the quality of its spiritual tourism offerings. She also participated in the main events that the city organizes and offers to both national and international visitors.
