Miami has firmly established itself as the cruise capital of the world, reaching historic milestones that reaffirm its leadership in the maritime industry. During the 2024 fiscal year, PortMiami welcomed a record-breaking 8,233,056 cruise passengers, representing a 12.79% increase compared to the previous year. This achievement highlights the growing preference among travelers to embark from this port, renowned for its world-class infrastructure and strategic location.

On February 9, 2025, PortMiami set another benchmark by hosting ten cruise ships simultaneously, accommodating approximately 68,000 passengers in a single day. This event marked a historic moment for the port and underscored its ability to manage large-scale operations with efficiency and safety.

Innovation and sustainability are at the core of PortMiami’s strategic vision. In June 2024, the port implemented a shore power system, enabling cruise ships to connect to the local electrical grid while docked. This pioneering initiative on the East Coast of the United States significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions and improves local air quality.
