During the 2024 fiscal year, PortMiami welcomed a record-breaking 8,233,056 cruise passengers, representing a 12.79% increase compared to the previous year. This achievement highlights the growing preference among travelers to embark from this port, renowned for its world-class infrastructure and strategic location.

On February 9, 2025, PortMiami set another benchmark by hosting ten cruise ships simultaneously, accommodating approximately 68,000 passengers in a single day. This event marked a historic moment for the port and underscored its ability to manage large-scale operations with efficiency and safety.

Innovation and sustainability are at the core of PortMiami’s strategic vision. In June 2024, the port implemented a shore power system, enabling cruise ships to connect to the local electrical grid while docked. This pioneering initiative on the East Coast of the United States significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions and improves local air quality.

Port infrastructure has also undergone major upgrades. The opening of new terminals, such as the MSC Cruises terminal in April 2025, has expanded the port's operational capacity and enhanced the passenger experience. These modern facilities are built to accommodate the world’s largest cruise ships and provide top-tier services for travelers.

PortMiami’s connectivity with the rest of the city is another key strength. Its proximity to Miami International Airport and direct connection to the Brightline high-speed rail service make access easy for both domestic and international travelers. Additionally, its location near world-renowned tourist attractions like Miami Beach and the Art Deco District enriches the cruise experience before and after voyages.

Miami’s commitment to the cruise industry is also reflected in its hosting of major international events. In April 2025, the city hosted Seatrade Cruise Global, the industry's most important convention, which brought together over 600 exhibitors and thousands of industry leaders. This event further solidified Miami's role as a global hub for cruise business and innovation.

With these accomplishments, Miami not only reaffirms its leadership in the cruise sector but also sets new standards of excellence in port operations, sustainability, and innovation. The city remains the port of choice for leading cruise lines including Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, MSC Cruises, and Virgin Voyages, and is poised to continue driving the growth and transformation of the industry in the years ahead.
