Argentina Reinvents Luxury Hospitality
01-04-25
Argentina's hotel industry is undergoing a profound transformation, driven by the rise of luxury tourism and evolving traveler preferences. According to the 2025 Hotel Report by Newmark and Pilou Partners, although there has been a general decline in occupancy rates among high-end hotels, those that have adapted to the new expectations of sophisticated travelers are managing to stand out in the national tourism landscape.
In 2024, occupancy in 4- and 5-star hotels fell across all regions of the country, signaling that traditional luxury alone is no longer sufficient to maintain high performance levels. Major destinations like Buenos Aires and Patagonia have seen a decrease in corporate and seasonal visitors. Currently, Argentina has 2,889 hotel establishments, 451 of which are 4- and 5-star hotels—representing 15.6% of the total—and are concentrated in key tourist and business locations.
Between 2022 and 2023, the share of 4- and 5-star hotels reached its highest level in the past decade, peaking at 16.6% in 2022 and slightly dropping to 16.5% in 2023. However, in 2024, this share declined to 15.6%, suggesting either a faster growth in other accommodation categories or a diversification of the country's hospitality offerings.
