Aerolíneas Argentinas achieves financial balance after 16 years of deficits
07-04-25
Aerolíneas Argentinas has reached a historic milestone by achieving financial balance for the first time since its renationalization in 2008. The company closed 2024 with an operating surplus of $20.2 million, marking the end of an era during which it averaged annual deficits of $400 million and required nearly $8 billion in state transfers over 16 years.
This result is attributed to a combination of strategic measures implemented by the current management, led by Fabián Lombardo. These include a reduction in workforce through voluntary retirements, restructuring of routes to eliminate unprofitable segments, and digitalization of ticket sales, which optimized revenue and reduced operating costs.
