The National Federation of Cocoa Growers of Colombia and The Tourism and Society Think Tank (TSTT) signed a collaboration agreement with the objective of developing joint projects that promote the development of cocoa-growing families through activities related to tourism, but especially the cultivation of cocoa and its environment, such as the transformation process, cultural, social and economic development.

This important collaboration agreement involves different TSTT programs, such as research groups and projects, accessibility and others. Particularly noteworthy is the work of the World Cocoa and Derivatives Tourism Destinations Network, led by Amora Carbajal, which works continuously to generate actions and activities with a significant impact on the sustainable development of cocoa producers and communities, promoting their growth and well-being.

The agreement will enable the implementation of initiatives that will strengthen the work of cocoa farming families, improving their opportunities for development and sustainability. Through this joint effort, strategies will be promoted to boost the local economy, tourism and value cocoa as a key element for the well-being of families, ensuring their growth and contribution to the progress of their communities.

As part of the agreement, TSTT and FEDECACAO will work on the international promotion of the National Federation of Cocoa Growers, strengthening its visibility and positioning in strategic markets. This work will include participation in national and international events, collaboration in technical projects and the generation of cooperation networks with other entities in the tourism and agro-industrial sector.

“The signing of this agreement represents a great opportunity to boost cocoa tourism in Colombia and also highlight the cultural richness of cocoa-growing families. We are convinced that this alliance will contribute to the development of innovative initiatives that will benefit both cocoa producers and visitors interested in discovering the history and value of Colombian cocoa,” said Antonio Santos, president of the TSTT.

Eduard Baquero, executive president of FEDECACAO, highlighted the importance of this collaboration: “This agreement will allow us to strengthen the recognition of Colombian cocoa-growing families at the international level and continue working on strategies that promote the development of our territories and the well-being of our producers.

With this agreement, TSTT and FEDECACAO reaffirm their commitment to sustainable territorial development and the enhancement of cocoa as a fundamental resource for the cultural identity and economic growth of the producing communities. This alliance opens new opportunities for the consolidation of Colombia, with respect to the benefits of cocoa of Colombian origin, as well as a reference tourism destination globally.
