The World Religious Tourism Network welcomes a new and distinguished member: the King Baudouin Memorial, located in Villa Astrida, an emblematic place that pays tribute to the life and legacy of King Baudouin of Belgium.

Villa Astrida was for years the resting place of King Baudouin and Queen Fabiola of Belgium in Motril. This privileged enclave, steeped in history and spirituality, was a haven of peace and meditation for the monarch, whose life was marked by his deep commitment to his people and his faith.

On July 31, 2023, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of King Baudouin's death, the King Baudouin Memorial opened its doors with an emotional inauguration by HM Queen Sofia of Spain and HM King Philippe of Belgium. This exhibition space seeks to transmit the monarch's philosophy of life and his human and spiritual trajectory, allowing visitors to get to know closely the figure of a king who dedicated his life to the service of his country and his people.

The incorporation of the King Baudouin Memorial into the World Network of Religious Tourism represents a significant step in the promotion of spiritual and cultural tourism in the region. This place not only stands out for its historical value, but also for its ability to inspire those seeking a space for reflection and connection with transcendental values.
