Mexico to host ITB Las Americas for three years

Mexico has been selected to host the ‘The Americas’ edition of the International Tourism Berlin (ITB) for three consecutive years, starting with the first edition in November 2026. This announcement will be made official at the upcoming ITB Berlin 2025, which will take place from 3-6 March.

Mexico's Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, stressed that this designation positions the country as a key player in the global tourism industry, strengthening its presence in international markets and consolidating its attractiveness as a leading destination in the region.

During his participation in the ‘Legislativa del Pueblo’ conference, organised by the Chamber of Deputies, Rodríguez Zamora underlined the importance of this achievement for the country's tourism promotion strategy. He called on legislators to work together to turn tourism into an engine of sustainable growth and shared prosperity.

In addition to the designation as ITB ‘The Americas’ host, the secretary emphasised the importance of diversifying the markets that send tourists to Mexico and boosting emerging markets. The aim is to make Mexico the fifth most visited country in the world, taking advantage of its vast cultural, natural, craft and gastronomic wealth.

In this regard, the installation of ‘Mexico Points’ in Mexican embassies and consulates abroad was announced. These spaces will function as showcases for the promotion of Mexico in the world and will have a direct positive impact on national artisans.

According to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), during 2024, Mexico received 86.4 million international visitors, which represents an increase of 15.5% compared to 2023. The economic revenue reached 32.956 billion dollars, 7.4% more than in 2023 and 34.1% more than in 2019.

This milestone marks a before and after in the projection of Mexico as a world-class tourism destination, taking advantage of one of the most influential platforms in the sector to attract more visitors and generate new opportunities for the industry.

Hosting ITB ‘The Americas’ in Mexico will not only strengthen the national tourism industry, but will also serve as a platform to promote the country's cultural and natural diversity, attracting tourism professionals from around the world and consolidating Mexico as a world-class destination on the international stage.
