Luxury tourism in Italy has experienced remarkable growth in recent years, consolidating itself as a key sector in the national economy. According to a report by Demoskopika, in 2024, five-star and five-star luxury hotels generated more than €9 billion in direct spending, representing 16.8% of the country's total hotel supply, estimated at just over €54 billion.

Between 2008 and 2024, excluding the pandemic biennium, the luxury tourism segment recorded an average annual growth of 5.2% in overnight stays in hotel establishments, while five-star and five-star deluxe hotels experienced an average annual increase of 7.6%. This increase reflects a sustained trend toward a preference for high-end accommodations by tourists visiting Italy.

Italy has established itself as the most desirable destination, especially among the high-spending segment. According to data presented by the Bit Observatory, based on information from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Europe remains the top tourist destination for international travelers, with 700 million arrivals, equivalent to 54% of the total. In this context, Italy stands out with data for 2023 in clear growth.
