27-03-25

In an unprecedented milestone in its 101 years of existence, the American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR) has appointed Francesca Rainieri as its first female president. This appointment, which will be made official on 2 April, marks a significant move towards inclusion and diversity in the country's business leadership.

Francesca Rainieri is a leading figure in the Dominican tourism industry. Her career in the Puntacana Group began in 2001 as manager of Strategic Planning, rising in 2004 to director of Hospitality. She currently holds the position of Senior Vice President of Administration, where she has been instrumental in the organisation of the various business units and in the implementation of the SAP system to optimise administrative processes. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Finance and Entrepreneurship, as well as a minor in Economics from Babson College, USA.

Rainieri's election is not only historic because of his gender, but also because of his lineage. His father, Frank Rainieri, founder of the Puntacana Group, presided over AMCHAMDR between 1986 and 1988, evidencing a family tradition of leadership and commitment to the economic development of the country.
