In an effort to consolidate the Caribbean as a more competitive and innovative tourism destination, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico have signed a memorandum of understanding that marks a milestone in regional cooperation. This strategic agreement seeks to promote multi-destination tourism, improve air connectivity and attract investment that will benefit both economies.
The signing ceremony took place at La Fortaleza, the official residence of the Governor of Puerto Rico, Jenniffer González, who received the Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, David Collado. Both leaders highlighted the importance of this collaboration for sustainable economic development and the strengthening of the tourism industry in the region. González emphasised: ‘This agreement reaffirms our commitment to sustainable economic development, the strengthening of our tourism industry and the well-being of our communities.
For his part, Collado described the agreement as ‘historic and transcendental’, underlining its potential to attract tourists from all over the world and generate a significant economic impact in the region. ‘We are betting on the multi-destination. That is why we are here in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on this historic day for regional tourism,’ said the Dominican minister.
