Colombia: Bogota and Cundinamarca walk in hope - Jubilee Year 2025
19-03-25
In an atmosphere of unity, faith and tourism, the city of Bogotá and the Department of Cundinamarca are preparing to welcome the Jubilee Year 2025 with an initiative that strengthens the link between spirituality and cultural heritage. Under the slogan ‘Bogotá and Cundinamarca walk with hope’, this event seeks to consolidate the region as a key destination for religious tourism in Latin America.
The event will take place on 20 March at the Catedral Primada de Colombia at 10:00 a.m., where ecclesiastical, governmental and tourism sector authorities will meet to present the activities and strategies that will be developed within the framework of the Jubilee 2025.
The event is organised by the Bogota District Institute of Tourism (IDT) and the city brand, with the support of the Archdiocese of Bogota, the Government of Cundinamarca and the Bogota Chamber of Commerce.
The main objective of this initiative is to encourage religious and cultural tourism in the region, promoting the arrival of national and foreign visitors during Holy Week and throughout the Jubilee year. ‘We want Bogotá and Cundinamarca to consolidate their position as a reference in religious tourism, highlighting the historical and spiritual wealth that characterises us,’ said the event's organisers.
One of the most relevant announcements of the launch will be the integration of Bogotá into the World Network of Religious Tourism, a programme of the Tourism and Society Think Tank, a distinction that will strengthen the international projection of the capital as an epicentre of pilgrimage and spiritual reflection. In addition, the Jubilee Tourism Year 2025 Travelling Congress will be held in the city, an event that will attract experts, the faithful and promoters of religious tourism from different parts of the world.
Another of the major commitments of this strategy is the celebration of the International Festival of Sacred Music of Bogotá 2025, one of the most anticipated cultural events of the year, which will bring together national and international artists in a meeting where music and faith are intertwined to offer experiences of great spiritual and artistic value.
With this initiative, it is expected that the region will receive thousands of pilgrims and tourists, stimulating the local economy, the reactivation of the hotel, gastronomic and transport sector, and the strengthening of religious and cultural heritage. In this way, Bogotá and Cundinamarca ratify their commitment to sustainable tourism, inclusion and respect for traditions.
The Jubilee Year 2025 represents a unique opportunity to highlight the identity and legacy of the region, promoting reflection, encounter and spiritual renewal.
