Redefining luxury travel

20-06-25

The luxury travel sector is undergoing a true transformation, as revealed by the Luxury Travel Report from Preferred Hotels & Resorts in collaboration with The Harris Poll. In 2025, the pursuit of luxury is shifting away from ostentation and turning toward deep, meaningful experiences. Eighty-four percent of travelers surveyed say a trusted travel advisor provides more value than hours of online searching, and 75% agree that the best experiences can't be found on social media. Furthermore, 40% are reluctant to book accommodations heavily promoted by influencers, indicating a clear shift toward authenticity and personalization.

The desire to travel remains strong: high-end travelers are planning an average of eight leisure trips in 2025, including three international getaways, and more than half expect to spend more than they did in 2024. This behavior shows that luxury is no longer measured by price tag alone, but by what it creates—transformative moments, unforgettable memories, and deep emotional connections.

Unique experiences are now the standard. More than four in five travelers say engaging with local experts results in unforgettable memories, and 64% prefer human guidance at the destination over digital concierges or AI. Generic or standardized itineraries no longer appeal. Discerning travelers are rejecting the “culture of deception” and uniform travel plans that make destinations indistinguishable from one another.
