Miami International Airport (MIA) has become the first airport in the world to implement a mobile application specifically designed to enhance the travel experience for people with low vision. With this initiative, MIA reaffirms its commitment to inclusion and accessibility, taking a global lead in adopting technology that creates a more equitable and secure environment for all passengers.

The tool, developed by the company GoodMaps, allows users with visual impairments to navigate independently and accurately within the airport using their mobile devices. Through voice instructions and indoor geolocation, the app guides travelers from their entry point to boarding gates, restrooms, security checkpoints, information desks, restaurants, shops, and other key areas of the airport. The system is also useful for individuals with cognitive disabilities, older adults, or any traveler who prefers personalized digital guidance.
