Africa is cementing its position as one of the most attractive destinations for major global hotel chains. In response to the continent’s growing tourism sector, Marriott International and Hilton have announced significant expansion plans to increase their presence in the region over the coming years.

Marriott plans to add more than 50 new properties and 9,000 rooms by the end of 2027. The company will focus its growth on five key markets: Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Madagascar, and Mauritania. Additionally, more than half of the new projects will open in countries such as Tanzania, Egypt, Morocco, Kenya, and Nigeria.

Among the highlights is the upcoming opening of Mapito Safari Camp, the first safari-style property under the Autograph Collection brand. It is set to open in the Serengeti in the third quarter of 2025, offering 16 luxury tented suites and year-round wildlife viewing experiences.
