The International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR) will hold its 45th edition from January 22 to 26, 2025 at IFEMA Madrid, consolidating its position as the sector's most important event worldwide. More than 150,000 professionals are expected to attend during the days dedicated to the sector, from Wednesday to Friday, and around 100,000 visitors from the general public during the weekend, for a total of more than 250,000 attendees.
FITUR 2025 will bring together 9,500 companies from 156 countries, distributed in nine IFEMA pavilions, with a total of 884 exhibitors. María Valcarce, director of FITUR, emphasizes that this edition is positioned as “the most important fair in the world, with the largest representation of companies and professionals”.
The estimated economic impact for Madrid during FITUR 2025 is approximately 445 million euros, benefiting sectors such as mobility, hotels, hospitality, culture and leisure. José Vicente de los Mozos, president of the Executive Committee of IFEMA Madrid, underscores the importance of FITUR as “a letter of introduction for the Spain Brand and the Madrid Brand,” highlighting Spain's potential as a leader in both the inbound and outbound tourism market.
Sustainability and innovation will be central themes at this edition. The Travel Technology area, dedicated to technological trends in tourism reservation management, will feature the participation of more than a hundred companies from around the world, reflecting the industry's commitment to digital transformation.
FITUR 2025 will feature ten monographic sections that connect the industry with various market niches. These include FITUR Cruises, focused on the environmental commitment of cruises; FITUR Lingua, geared towards language tourism; FITUR Screen, focused on film tourism; and FITUR LGTB+, which addresses diversity and inclusion in the sector, considering that this segment represents 10% of tourists worldwide.
Almudena Maíllo del Valle, head of the Madrid City Council's Tourism Department, points out that FITUR is an opportunity to “show the world the best of Madrid and Madrid the best of the world,” strengthening the city's reputation as a global destination. For his part, Mariano de Paco, Deputy Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sport for the Community of Madrid, emphasizes that in 2024 the region has consolidated the tourism sector as a fundamental pillar of its economy, and FITUR 2025 will serve to further boost this trend.
The holding of FITUR 2025 in Madrid not only strengthens the city's position as an international tourism benchmark, but also boosts the local economy and promotes collaboration between professionals and companies in the sector on a global level. The fair stands as a key space for the exchange of knowledge, the presentation of innovations and the establishment of strategic alliances that will define the future of tourism in the coming years.
With a track record of more than four decades, FITUR continues to adapt to emerging trends and the changing needs of the tourism industry, consolidating itself as an indispensable platform for the development and promotion of tourism worldwide. The 2025 edition promises to be a milestone in the history of the fair, reflecting the resilience and capacity for innovation of a sector in constant evolution.
