The Prefecture of Azuay enthusiastically announces its official adhesion to the World Cocoa and Derivatives Tourism Destinations Network, a transcendental milestone that highlights the province's potential as a gastronomic and cultural tourism destination. The event will take place within the framework of the prestigious tourism fair FITUR 2025, at the Ecuador Stand (3C04-FT25), next Friday, January 24 at 14h30.
This incorporation represents a great opportunity for Azuay, a region with a rich history linked to cocoa, an emblematic product of Ecuador. The official ceremony will be attended by the Minister of Tourism of Ecuador, Mateo Estrella, and the Director General of the Network, Amora Carbajal, who will support this initiative that seeks to position Azuay as a benchmark in cocoa tourism.
Ecuadorian cocoa is recognized worldwide for its quality and unique flavor. In Azuay, this product is not only an essential part of the local economy, but is also part of its cultural identity and gastronomic tradition. By joining the World Network of Cocoa Tourist Destinations, the province seeks to promote sustainable tourism and strengthen the tourist routes that revolve around this product.
The World Cocoa and Cocoa Derivatives Tourist Destinations Network is an international initiative that promotes the valorization of cocoa as a tourist attraction, encouraging the development of authentic experiences in the producing communities. Azuay joins this network with the commitment to offer unique experiences that connect visitors with the history, traditions and flavors of its fine aroma cocoa.

The event will be a space for the exchange of knowledge and the strengthening of strategic alliances around cocoa tourism, with the participation of experts and representatives of other member destinations of the Network. In addition, there will be a presentation on the main initiatives that the Prefecture of Azuay is promoting to consolidate cocoa as a sustainable tourist attraction.
