TSTT reaffirms its commitment to accessibility in tourism on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

03-12-25

Every year on 3 December, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated, a date proclaimed by the United Nations to promote the rights, dignity and full inclusion of more than one billion people around the world. In this context, the Tourism and Society Think Tank (TSTT) reaffirms its commitment to building a truly inclusive tourism sector, where accessibility is a fundamental pillar and not a complementary element. This day invites us to reflect on the progress achieved and the challenges that remain, reminding us that ensuring access to tourism on equal terms is both a right and a global responsibility.

For TSTT, accessibility is an essential component of its institutional vision and forms part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability, social responsibility and equity. The organisation has promoted numerous initiatives aimed at raising awareness, generating knowledge and fostering cooperation among institutions, companies and experts in order to improve accessibility conditions along the entire tourism value chain. These efforts are based on the conviction that accessible tourism benefits not only persons with disabilities, but also older persons, families with young children and any traveller who needs more user-friendly and safer conditions.
