Special Recognitions
The Tourism Press Award went to Portugal’s Unwritten Recipe, by Turismo de Portugal, highlighting its narrative strength and editorial impact.
Sustainability played a central role in the GreenWorking Awards, an initiative by CIFFT and the Spanish agency Normmal, with the participation of the World Tourism Organization. The French production company Zéké Film (France) received both the Message Award and the Production Award, while Mashpi Lodge (Ecuador) received the Global Award for the most impactful sustainable production of the year.
Alexander V. Kammel, CIFFT Director, stated: “These productions stand among the most effective examples of tourism audiovisual promotion today. Hosting the World Tourism Film Awards in Guimarães and in Northern Portugal has been especially meaningful, not only because of the talent and professionalism honoured, but also due to the exemplary way the destination welcomed the event. The success of this edition confirms the vitality of the sector and reinforces the decisive role of creativity and innovation in tourism.”
Organised by the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT) and the Municipality of Guimarães, with the support of Turismo Porto & Norte de Portugal, the World Tourism Film Awards are held in association with the World Tourism Organization and several leading international organisations.
Ricardo Araújo, Mayor of Guimarães, declared: “The opportunity to host the 2025 edition of the World Tourism Film Awards is the best way to begin the path we advocate: strengthening the tourism appeal of our territory and extending the stay of those who visit us, generating more life in the city and greater dynamism in our local economy—from traditional commerce to restaurants, from hospitality to other services.”
For his part, Luís Pedro Martins, President of Turismo Porto & Norte de Portugal, stressed that “The success of the event shows that the choice of Porto and the North, and specifically the city of Guimarães, was the most appropriate decision to host the World Tourism Film Awards, thus helping to boost the international positioning of the Porto and North Region.”
As the final event of the CIFFT Circuit, the awards reflect a rigorous assessment of more than 4,000 videos each year, selected through festivals in France, the United States, Spain, Portugal, Japan, Greece, Croatia and Serbia. Entries for the 2026 CIFFT Circuit are already open.
