Ibb (Yemen) commemorates the prophet: Faith, culture, and community on display
20-08-25
In Ibb, an unprecedented cultural experience unfolded, as the commemoration of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad was transformed into a true celebration of faith, community, and heritage, thanks to the strong commitment of the local tourism sector. Under the motto “At your service, O Messenger of God”, the tourism administration organized a series of events that combined religious symbols, art, poetry, and film, creating a participatory and emotional atmosphere characterized by deep social cohesion.
The city was dressed in light and color: its main streets and public squares were transformed into living galleries, where luminous garlands, decorative banners, and illuminated panels created an atmosphere that invited visitors and residents alike to immerse themselves in a universe where spirituality was expressed through art. This visual display not only beautified the city for a few hours but also offered an aesthetic and emotional experience of profound symbolism, making it truly memorable.
The heart of the activities was centered in the emblematic Great Prophet Square, which had undergone a series of interventions. Expansion work, land leveling, and the construction of new infrastructure were carried out not only for the central day of the celebration but also as part of a long-term strategy aimed at consolidating this space as a permanent cultural hub. The Governor of Ibb, Abdulwahid Salaah, presided over the inauguration of these improvements in early August, stressing the urgency of having everything ready for the event and pointing out that strengthening the cultural environment was also a way to reaffirm the values of unity and devotion.
