Workshop for the management of the harmony of Itatí - Corrientes (Argentina)

An interactive workshop with representatives of the Church, the governments of the province and the municipality, the Economic Federation of Corrientes, CAME and the world network of religious tourism was held in the premises of the Basilica of Our Lady of Itati.

The actors worked on religious, urban and rural tourism projects as a means to revitalise ITATI, aiming at a sustainable local development for the benefit of the neighbours and pilgrims who annually come to the city to venerate the Virgin.

After a visit and a prayer at the feet of the Virgin, the participants entered into a process of dialogue and continuous learning to begin to develop a territorial action plan for religious and rural tourism at different scales of action and sustainable in time and space, with clear goals of realisation and physical materialisation.

The Minister of Tourism of the Province, Alejandra Elicieri, and Auguro Costaguta, Undersecretary of Tourism, were present. The president of the Economic Federation of Corrientes, Jorge Gómez. The meeting ended with the agreement to continue working together on ideas and projects of specific intervention for local development based on the recognition of the strong attraction that the Virgin of ITATI generates in the millions of pilgrims who annually visit the city to pray at her altar under the mantle of faith.
