Cartagena de Indias fuses faith, culture and tradition in Holy Week

Cartagena de Indias D.T. y C.,  25 March 2025 Cartagena de Indias, as an international religious tourist destination, has the agenda ready for the celebration of Holy Week 2025, which takes on special relevance in the Jubilee 2025, ‘pilgrims of hope’, which promotes the experience of religious and responsible tourism, marked by liturgical celebrations and popular piety along with a cultural and gastronomic agenda, organised by the Mayor's Office of Cartagena, from the Secretariat of Tourism, Corpoturismo, IPCC and IDER and the Archdiocese of Cartagena, along with foundations and guilds of the tourism sector of the city.

‘We are about to celebrate Holy Week 2025 and we want Cartagena de Indias to be the destination chosen by many families to experience these holy days. In addition to the usual plans of sun, beach and islands, you will be able to experience a rich religious agenda in the Historic Centre, in our beautiful colonial temples, as well as wonderful processions, religious music festival and enjoy the traditional Festival del Dulce. We are waiting for you with open arms and hearts ready to serve you and share our religious tradition,’ said Liliana Majana, social manager of the Mayor's Office of Cartagena.

Holy Week 2025 in Cartagena de Indias will include the following activities:

- Friday 11 April- Road to Easter (last Friday of Lent): Children's celebration prior to the beginning of Holy Week. The children of the city will have the opportunity to see living pictures of the Stations of the Cross, staged by children from Santa Fe de Antioquia, on a route through the streets of the Historic Centre. Parents and caregivers, as well as children's groups from different parishes in the city, are invited to join in this activity.
