Investment in cultural infrastructure and the promotion of international events are part of a comprehensive plan to boost the local economy and generate employment in sectors related to tourism and culture. In addition, it seeks to encourage community participation in these activities, strengthening the social fabric and cultural identity of the city.
For the first time, the city is joining forces between the public and private sectors to launch a comprehensive offer of more than 1,200 cultural, business, entertainment and art events that seek to consolidate Bogota as a venue for major shows in Latin America and the world. The strategy was presented by the Bogota Tourism Office, the Bogota Chamber of Commerce and the Secretariat of Culture, Recreation and Sport.
‘This is a unique opportunity to strengthen the connection between tourism, entertainment and the creative economy. The articulation between the public and private sectors is key to boosting the sector's competitiveness, generating employment and attracting investment. We are consolidating Bogota as a cultural, innovative and globally competitive epicentre,’ said Ovidio Claros Polanco, president of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce.
Bogota's cultural programming for 2025 includes festivals, fairs, concerts and exhibitions that celebrate the diversity and creativity of the Colombian capital. Highlights include the Rock al Parque Festival, the Bogotá International Book Fair (Filbo) and the International Biennial of Art and City BOG25, among many others.
The Bogotá International Book Fair (Filbo) will be held between 25 April and 11 May 2025, with Spain as guest of honour. This event is considered one of the most important international book fairs in the world and an unmissable event for the literary and publishing sector.
The BOG25 International Biennial of Art and the City will take place from 20 September to 20 October 2025, with the aim of democratising art in Colombia and allowing new creators to sell their work at affordable prices. The fair has showcased the work of more than 2,350 artists and recently, its founders were appointed co-directors of the Biennial.
Bogotá's cultural offerings also include major music events, such as the Estéreo Picnic 2025 Festival, which will take place from 27 to 30 March in the Simón Bolívar Park, with a programme starting each day from 13:00 or 14:00. The event will feature more than 70 bands, including artists such as Olivia Rodrigo, Justin Timberlake, Alanis Morissette, Tool and The Black Keys, as well as Latin American talents such as Galy Galiano, Mon Laferte and Danny. With this ambitious cultural agenda, Bogotá seeks to consolidate itself as a world-class tourist destination, offering visitors a unique experience that combines art, culture and entertainment in a vibrant and welcoming city.
