The International Tourism Fair of Latin America (FIT), one of the most eagerly awaited events for the tourism sector, reaches its 28th edition this year, consolidating its position as a key event for the promotion of tourism in the region. From September 30 to October 3, the fairgrounds of La Rural in Buenos Aires will become the epicenter of business, strategic alliances and presentations of tourist destinations from all over the world.

Organized by the Federación Argentina de Asociaciones de Empresas de Viajes y Turismo (FAEVYT) and the Asociación de Agencias de Viajes y Turismo de Buenos Aires (AVIABUE), FIT has been growing in relevance and number of participants since its creation. This edition promises to be particularly special due to the post-pandemic reactivation of international tourism and the growing demand for travel, which has set in motion the recovery of the industry at a global level.

FIT has positioned itself as a space where tourism professionals can meet, exchange ideas, create alliances and discuss the latest trends in the sector. During its four-day duration, the fair will offer attendees the opportunity to participate in business rounds, conferences and expert panels, in addition to interacting with exhibitors from more than 40 countries. This variety makes FIT an event that not only promotes the visibility of tourist destinations, but also the growth of companies in the sector.

One of the most important features of the fair is its ability to connect small tour operators with major players in the industry. In a world where technology is changing the rules of the game, FIT provides a platform where tourism companies, from local agencies to multinational companies, can establish contacts and close deals.

This year, one of the most prominent themes will be innovation in the tourism sector. Conferences and presentations dedicated to new technologies are expected, such as the use of artificial intelligence for travel planning, the implementation of augmented reality solutions to improve the traveler's experience and the impact of digitalization on the industry.

Likewise, sustainability will be another central focus of FIT 2024. With an increasingly global focus on responsible and eco-friendly tourism, the fair will devote significant space to showcasing destinations and companies that are adopting sustainable practices. From rural and community-based tourism to innovations in transportation and accommodations that reduce carbon footprints, attendees will be able to explore the opportunities offered by more environmentally conscious tourism.

Another attraction of the fair will be FIT Tech, a space dedicated to technological innovations applied to tourism. Here, visitors will be able to learn first-hand about the digital tools and platforms that are transforming the industry. In addition, startups are expected to present their creative solutions to improve the tourist experience, from trip planning to their stay at the destination.

FIT Tech will also open a debate on the future of tourism in a post-pandemic world, where flexibility, digitization and personalization have become key pillars. The impact of artificial intelligence, automation and data analytics will be key topics for panel discussions.

FIT not only has a global impact, but also represents an invaluable opportunity for Latin American tourism destinations. In a context where demand for travel to the region is on the rise, the fair offers Latin American countries an ideal platform to promote their tourism attractions and attract investment.

With the participation of emblematic destinations such as Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia and Mexico, among others, FIT 2024 will allow visitors to discover the latest offers in cultural, nature, gastronomic and wellness tourism. In addition, the presence of national and regional tourism organizations will encourage the promotion of tourism development initiatives that foster the sustainable growth of the sector.

With an expected attendance of more than 90,000 people, including tourism professionals and the general public, FIT 2024 is shaping up to be an event that will set the course for tourism in Latin America in the coming years. The fair's organizers are clear that the reactivation of tourism will be key to the region's economic recovery and see FIT as a platform that drives international cooperation, investment and sustainable growth in the sector.
