27-10-24

SACRUM EXPO 2024, the innovative event of culture, heritage, religious and spiritual tourism, concludes today after three days of intense activities, consolidating itself as a reference in the global tourism sector. Under the slogan “Connecting faith with the future”, it explored the intersection between tourism, heritage and spirituality.

This event was organized in collaboration with the World Network of Religious and Spiritual Tourism Destinations (WDTRD). In this first edition, SACRUM EXPO 2024 has brought together delegations from countries such as Spain, Colombia, Egypt, Portugal, and marketing companies from landscapes such as Lithuania, Poland, Guatemala and Spain, all of them specialized in religious tourism.

Likewise, several countries and specialized companies from Latin America and Europe, such as Argentina, Ecuador, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia and Mexico, were represented at the stand of the World Network of Religious and Spiritual Tourism Destinations. This stand was the central meeting point of the Fair. Throughout the three days of this event, which is coming to a close today, numerous experts have participated with outstanding interventions, enriching the exchange of knowledge and experiences.

With a focus on the preservation of religious heritage, the program included conferences and round tables with international experts, such as Bishop Jesús Castro Marte of Higüey and Gustavo Riveiro D'Angelo, from the Department of Pastoral Tourism of the Spanish Episcopal Conference, as well as other presentations during the three days of the fair that strengthened intercultural understanding.

These panels addressed topics ranging from the impact of spiritual tourism on local communities to trends in the promotion of sacred destinations, creating a space for reflection on the value of spirituality in tourism.

One of the highlights was the exhibition area, where strategic synergies were established between tour operators, religious organizations and destination representatives. Alfredo Grande, curator of SACRUM EXPO, underscored the success of the event with a few words of thanks: “We thank all the attendees, exhibitors and collaborators who made this meeting possible. Seeing the commitment of each participant inspires us to continue promoting culture and tourism as tools for peace and understanding. Special thanks to Pilar Valdés, director of the Global Network for Religious and Spiritual Tourism, and to the president of the Tourism and Society Think Tank, Mr. Antonio Santos del Valle, whose support and vision have been instrumental in making this event so significant. This success is proof of the power of collaboration”.

For her part, Pilar Valdés expressed her gratitude, highlighting the commitment of the Network and its members: “Thank you to all those who have contributed to making this event a reality. Your dedication to destinations, religiosity and tourism inspires us to continue building together a committed sector full of values, reflecting the importance of preserving and promoting religious tourism worldwide. “.

Looking ahead: prospects for future editions

The organization is already underway to plan future editions of SACRUM EXPO, with the aim of continuing to expand the number of countries and the diversity of activities, consolidating this meeting as a fundamental event in the field of religious and cultural tourism. According to Grande, “SACRUM EXPO 2024 has laid the foundations for a promising future. We hope that the following editions can bring together more participants and contribute to the preservation of cultural and spiritual heritage.”

SACRUM EXPO 2024 leaves a legacy of understanding and cooperation, reaffirming its commitment to tourism that celebrates diversity and spiritual heritage, inviting new generations to be part of promoting this valuable legacy.
