Following the news that TSTT published as a scoop, the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, confirmed Mexico's participation in the International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR) 2025, to be held in Madrid, Spain. She also announced that Mexico will be the Partner Country of FITUR in 2026, which will strengthen its international presence, especially in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and consolidate the country as a tourism power.

Rodríguez Zamora stressed that Mexico's participation in FITUR represents an excellent opportunity to promote the cultural, heritage and gastronomic wealth of the 32 Mexican states. During the five days of the fair, more than 150 countries and a large number of tourism service providers are expected to attend, which increases Mexico's business opportunities and projection on the global stage.

For the 2025 edition, 900 companies from more than 152 countries and more than 6,000 specialized media are expected to participate, with an estimated attendance of 153,000 visitors, of which more than 50% will be professionals from the tourism sector.

The Secretary reaffirmed her commitment to international promotion as one of the key axes to encourage the arrival of national and international tourists, thus increasing economic revenue and strengthening Mexico's position in global tourism. In this regard, he announced that Mexico will be present at 14 international fairs, including FITUR, in order to promote its culture, gastronomy, Magic Towns, ecotourism products, the Mayan Train and the wide range of experiences that the country offers to the world.

He also stressed the importance of national promotion, highlighting the Tianguis Turístico 2025 to be held in Baja California, where a significant participation of tour operators from the United States and Canada is expected, as well as the Tianguis de Pueblos Mágicos, in its seventh edition, to be held in the state of Hidalgo.

All these promotion and positioning actions are aimed at generating jobs and opportunities that contribute to the wellbeing of the host communities and native peoples of Mexico.

Finally, the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, clarified during the conference “La Mañanera del Pueblo” that relations with Spain continue to be strong: “There is a great commercial, tourist and cultural relationship (...) with many Spaniards living in Mexico, children of republicans who made their lives in our country; relations with Spain are broad and solid.”
