The tourist town of Salou, in Tarragona, has presented a novel promotional strategy: its own fragrance, called 'Salou Essences'. Developed by the Saphir group, this fragrance is available in versions for men and women, and seeks to capture the “dynamic energy and exuberant nature” as well as the “unique atmosphere” of the capital of the Costa Daurada.

The official presentation of 'Salou Essences' took place this Monday in Zaragoza, attracting more than 200 attendees. Among those present were the president of the government of Aragon, Jorge Antonio Azcón Navarro; the mayor of Zaragoza, Natalia Chueca Muñoz, and other members of the Aragonese government. Pere Granados, mayor of Salou and president of the Tourist Board, led the event, during which attendees were also able to enjoy a gastronomic tasting prepared by Michelin-starred chef Pep Moreno, accompanied by other restaurateurs from Salou.

The fragrance of Salou seeks to evoke typical Mediterranean aromas, with citrus and aquatic notes, which convey the “elegance and relaxation” characteristic of this tourist destination. This initiative adds to the tourist offer of Salou, which includes a rich gastronomy, a spectacular natural environment, coastal paths, shopping options and outdoor activities. According to Pere Granados, this innovation in olfactory marketing is a way for visitors to take a part of Salou with them, helping to create lasting memories associated with the well-being and happiness that the place offers.

During his speech, the mayor highlighted the importance of innovation in tourism promotion, recalling that human beings tend to remember the places that have brought them well-being and happiness. “These moments remain impregnated in our memory. And Salou is one of those places that one remembers for a lifetime for many factors,” he said. Granados listed the beaches, coves, gastronomy and natural wealth of the coastline of Salou, highlighting that now both residents and tourists can enjoy another dimension of the experience of Salou through this fragrance.

For her part, the mayor of Zaragoza, Natalia Chueca, congratulated those responsible for the Saphir group for this initiative, describing it as “a new genius that is sure to be a success”. Chueca stressed that the essences have the power to transmit memories, and stressed that many Zaragozans feel at home in Salou, having multiple experiences in the city. He also thanked the mayor of Salou for sharing this event with the Zaragozans and Aragonese, strengthening the ties between the two localities.
