The International Association of Conference Centers (IACC) has unveiled the findings of its “Meeting Room of the Future 2024” report, which analyzes emerging trends in the events industry. This report, produced in partnership with Development Counselors International (DCI) and funded by Aramark Destinations, Pyramid Global Hospitality, Encore, and Flik Hospitality Group & Rapport, compiles data from 170 venue operators globally.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Adoption: While AI adoption is currently limited, used primarily in marketing, data analytics and revenue management, approximately 35% of venues plan to expand its use to menu planning, food waste management and guest services.
Adapting to Generation Z: Operators are adjusting their services to meet the needs of the new generation, including more breaks, personal time and small group settings to encourage participation. In addition, more than 70% of venues promote connection with nature.
Evolution in Food & Beverage: There has been a decrease in alcohol consumption and an increase in complex dietary requests. Venues are responding with more flexible and sustainable options.
Commitment to Sustainability: 83% of venues have implemented programs to reduce food waste and 88% have eliminated single-use plastics. Three-quarters of the locations have environmental or sustainability certifications.
Mark Cooper, executive director of IACC, notes that the research reflects the evolution of live meetings and the adaptation of venues to meet the expectations of corporate event planners, with an emphasis on social responsibility and sustainability.
Nancy Lindemer, global president of IACC, stresses the importance of creating experiences and networks, combining nature and technology to meet clients' expectations. She also emphasizes the need for flexibility and inclusivity in food and beverage offerings, addressing diverse needs in a sustainable and cost-effective way.
The “Meeting Room of the Future 2024” report provides a comprehensive and forward-looking view of the industry, highlighting the trends that are shaping the future of events and conferences.
