12-03-24

The Ibero-American Forum of Tourism Journalists has been transformed into the Ibero-American Federation of Tourism Journalists (FIPETUR), marking a significant milestone in its trajectory and international expansion. This unanimous decision, taken during the Extraordinary Assembly on February 1, 2024, not only reflects a change of name but also a strengthening of its mission to promote the integration and recognition of tourism journalism professionals across the borders of Ibero-America.

President María Shaw, along with Armando de la Garza and other prominent members of the Board of Directors, represent FIPETUR's diversity and commitment to excellence in tourism communication. The federation, which now includes associations from multiple countries, with the prospect of incorporating more members, symbolizes a growing community dedicated to the promotion of sustainable tourism and the professional development of its members.

With the adoption of a new visual identity that preserves its traditional essence, FIPETUR is preparing to launch its revamped portal, fipetur.net, thus expanding its informative and educational reach.

This step forward reflects the evolution since its founding in 2009, showing the ongoing commitment to the dissemination of tourism and support for journalists in the sector in Ibero-America.

The Federation's main mission is the integration and mutual support among tourism journalism professionals, promoting the recognition of the profession and contributing to the development of tourism in the region. Through seminars, familiarization trips and the establishment of relationships with tourism organizations, FIPETUR seeks to raise the professional standards of its members and promote informed and responsible tourism.

The meetings and events organized by FIPETUR over the years have been crucial to the strengthening and expansion of its network, demonstrating the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing in the field of tourism journalism. Maria Shaw's presidency inaugurates a new chapter in the history of the Federation, with a renewed focus on inclusion, professional development and tourism sustainability.
