The Association of Women Travel Executives (ASEET) has renewed its board of directors at the last ordinary general assembly, appointing Teresa García and Mercedes Tejero as new president and vice president, respectively, for the next two years.

García and Tejero thus replace Paz Abad and María José Quintana as ASEET's top managers, who have done a "great job" in the last two years, according to the Association.

Teresa García is senior manager of Global Default Insurance & Risk Strategy Implementation at the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and has more than 24 years of experience in the sector. Mercedes Tejero is manager of the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies (CEAV).

The renewed board of directors of ASEET is completed with Fina Muñoz, CEO of IAG7 Viajes, as head of Social Responsibility; Pilar Nieto, Commercial and Marketing Director of Viajes Catai, as Director of Communications; Katia Estace, Executive Director of Travel at AON, as Director; Mariluz Velasco, General Director of Companies at IAG7 Viajes, as Treasurer; and Tatiana López, Controller of Soalaris, as Secretary of ASEET.

We want to change the picture," said García about the mission she is taking on to give visibility to women in the sector.

In her first speech, the new president said that her intention is to give visibility to women in the sector. "We want to change the picture," she said, before expanding that during her term she will address four basic pillars: the visibility of women within the tourism industry, training, internal and external communication, including the celebration of the 1st ASEET Congress in October, and social responsibility, by helping groups of women facing disadvantaged circumstances.
